CITY OF LA PORTE <br />VVIRECKER COMMITTEE <br />MINUTES OF OCTOBER 3, 20" <br />Committee Members Present: Wayne Sabo, Planning Director (designated representative of the City <br />Manager); Martha Gillett, City Secretary; and Aaron Con -ales, Asst. <br />Police Chief (designated representative of the Police Chief) <br />Staff Members Present: Clary Askins, Assistant City Attorney and Peggy Lee, Office <br />Coordinator <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Meeting called to order by Chairman Wayne Sabo at 2:30 p.m. <br />2. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF AUGUST 22, 2006, MEETING MINUTES. <br />Motion by Martha Gillett to approve the Minutes of August 22, 2006. Second by Aaron Corrales. <br />The motion carried; Minutes approved as presented. <br />3. CONDUCT PUBLIC HEARING TO DISCUSS AN APPLICATION BY LA PORTE TOWING, <br />INC. FOR AN EMERGENCY AUTO WRECKER PERMIT, IN ACCORDANCE WITH <br />SECTION 79-297 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCE - <br />A. OPEN PUBLIC HEARING <br />Chairman Wayne Sabo opened the public hearing at 2:31 p.m. <br />B. STAFF COMMENTS <br />Staff concurred that the application submitted by La Porte Towing, Inc. appeared to be in <br />order with all required documentation. <br />C. PUBLIC COM vffiNTS <br />Bobby Slocum, whose residence is 1.0839 Mulberry. and business .is.at 202 N. 111h Street, <br />answered questions from Committee Members. Mr. Slocum currently has two <br />emergency auto wrecker permits 1) La Porte Automotive and 2) La Porte Towing. There <br />is enough room available at his, storage lot to accommodate 200 — 300 additional cars:. <br />D. CLOSE PUBLIC HEARING <br />Chairman Sabo closed the public hearing at 2:35 p.m. <br />
