I <br />® MINUTES <br />OF THE <br />LA PORTE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />FEBRUARY 9, 1984 <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Andy Wilson at <br />7:00 P.M. <br />Members present: Chairman Wilson, Members Sidney Grant, <br />Ronnie Rowell, Linda Mains, Lawrence Farias, Charlie Young <br />Members absent: Robert Swanagan <br />Others present: Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, <br />Building inspector Mark Lewis, Dr. & Mrs. Reed Tolles <br />2. The Board considered approving the minutes of the November 17, <br />1983, meeting. <br />Motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes as presented. <br />The motion carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays. <br />® Ayes: Wilson, Grant, Rowell, Mains, Farias, Young <br />Nays: None <br />3. The Board considered electing a vice-chairman. <br />Sidney Grant resigned as secretary and Linda Mains was ap- <br />pointed to that position. <br />Motion was made by.Linda Mains, second by Charlie Young, to <br />elect Sidney Grant as vice-chairman. The motion carried, 5 <br />ayes, 0 nays and 1 abstain. <br />Ayes: Wilson, Rowell, Mains, Farias, Young <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Grant <br />4. The Board considered the request of Dr. Reed Tolles for a <br />variance to enclose a patio. <br />Building inspector Mark Lewis reviewed the request and ex- <br />plained that the building permit had.been denied because <br />Dr. Tolles' home is built exactly 10 feet from the utility <br />easements in the rear and the zoning ordinance requires a <br />rear yard of 10 feet from the nearest utility easement. There <br />exists an 8 foot underground utility easement and a 5 foot <br />• aerial easement. <br />
