Permitted only <br /> in Heavy Industrial (HI) Zones (Sec. 106-521, <br /> Table A) <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of La Porte has mandated the review of nonconforming structures, uses and lots <br />as per the City's Zoning Ordinance Section 106-261. , <br />The general public, the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Zoning Board of <br />Adjustment have been directed to take note that nonconformities in the use and development <br />of land and buildings are to be avoided or eliminated where now existing, wherever and <br />whenever possible. <br />A nonconforming use is a use not allowed in a zoning district by the City's zoning <br />ordinance. In some cases, the nonconforming use may have been legal as a preexisting <br />nonconforming use. However, the City's current zoning ordinance requires that all cases <br />of nonconforming use be reviewed by the Zoning Board of Adjustment (BOA). <br />
