CALL TO ORDER. <br /> <br />Vice-Chairman George Maltsberger called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m, <br /> <br />2. APPROVE MINUTES OF THE MARCH 23, 2006, MEETING. <br /> <br />Minutes of the meeting were approved as presented. <br /> <br />3. CONSIDER VARIANCE REQUEST #V06-002 FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 728 S. <br />CARROLL STREET, FURTHER DESCRIBED BY THE HARRIS COUNTY APPRAISAL <br />DISTRICT AS LOTS 45 & 46, BLOCK 22, BAY FRONT ADDITION TO LA PORTE, JOHNSON <br />HUNTER SURVEY, ABSTRACT 35, LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS. THE <br />APPLICANT SEEKS VARIANCES TO ALLOW AN EXTRA HEIGHT AND OVERSIZED <br />DETACHED GARAGE WITH A 41' WIDE DRIVEWAY, PROHIBITED BY THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES. THESE VARIANCES ARE BEING SOUGHT UNDER THE TERMS OF <br />SECTION 106-191(B) OF THE CITY'S CODE OF ORDINANCES. <br /> <br />A. STAFF PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Wayne Sabo presented Staff's Report. The applicants, Robert and Krista Britt, have <br />requested a variance to the maximum allowable height requirements, maximum allowable <br />floor area requirements, and maximum allowable driveway width requirements for property <br />located at 728 S. Carroll Street. <br /> <br />17 property owners located within 200 feet of the subject tract were sent notification of the <br />public hearing. Five responses were received favoring the variance, <br /> <br />B. PROPONENTS <br /> <br />Vice-Chairman Maltsberger swore in Robert Britt, 730 S. Carroll. Mr, Britt provided a brief <br />history of the subject property. He plans to utilize the garage for storage of his personal <br />vehicles and a boat. The height variance being requested is the same height as his home, <br /> <br />C. OPPONENTS <br /> <br />No opposition was presented. <br /> <br />Motion by Bob Capen to approve Variance #V06-002 for property located at 728 S. Carroll Street <br />for construction of a two-story garage for storage of private personal cars and storage on the <br />second story, The proposed structure shall not exceed 25' in height. The maximum floor area <br />shall not exceed 1,435 sq. ft. The variance also allows construction of a 41' driveway to service <br />the garage. Second by Rod Rothermel.
