CaII to Order. <br /> Vice Chairman Rod Rothermel called the meeting to order at 6:12 p.m. <br /> 2. Consider approval of the March 24, 2011, meeting minutes. <br /> Motion by T.J. Walker to approve the Minutes of March 24, 2011. Second by Charles Schoppe. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Ayes: Rod Rothermel, Gilbert Montemayor (Alt. No. 2), Charles Schoppe, and T.J. Walker <br /> Nays: None <br /> Abstain: None <br /> 3. Consider Special Exception Request #11- 94000001 for the property located at 125 South 3rd <br /> Street, further described by the Harris County Appraisal District as being Lots 11 -16, Block <br /> 39, Town of La Porte, Harris County, Texas. The City of La Porte, property owner, seeks <br /> reduction of a side yard setback from 10' to 0' adjacent to West 'A' Street and from 20' to 0' <br /> along the rear yard, and an exception for installation of eaves or downspouts adjacent to <br /> public right -of -way for proposed Fire Station No. 1. These exceptions are being sought under <br /> the terms of Section 106- 191(b)(2) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte. <br /> A. STAFF PRESENTATION <br /> Masood Malik, City Planner, presented staffs report. <br /> Seventeen public hearing notices were mailed to property owners within 200' of the <br /> subject property. The City received one response in favor of the Special Exception and <br /> two were returned undeliverable. <br /> B. PROPONENTS <br /> There were none. <br /> C. OPPONENTS <br /> Brenda Brown of 631 Fairfield, Shoreacres is a property owner of 113 S. 3rd Street. Ms. <br /> Brown did not feel there was sufficient notice given to the property owners. Ms. Brown <br /> voiced her concern for the noise and traffic the proposed Fire Administration building <br /> might bring to the neighborhood. <br /> D. PROPONENTS REBUTTAL <br /> There were none. <br /> Motion by Gilbert Montemayor to approve Special Exception Request #11- 94000001, for the <br /> property located at 125 South 3rd Street to reduce a side yard setback from 10' to 0' adjacent to <br /> West `A' Street and from 20' to 0' along the rear yard, and an exception for installation of eaves or <br /> downspouts adjacent to public right -of -way for proposed Fire Station No. 1.
