REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM <br />Budget <br />Agenda Date Requested:7-9-18 <br />Source of Funds: <br />Requested By:Matt Hartleib <br />Account Number: <br />Department:Human Resources <br />Amount Budgeted: <br />Report: Resolution:Ordinance: <br />Amount Requested: <br />Exhibits:Proposed 2019 Civil Service Pay Scale <br />Budgeted Item:YESNO <br />Exhibits: 2017-2021 Meet and Confer Agreement <br />SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION <br />As required by the previously approved City of La Porte/ La Porte Police Officer Association multi-year Meet and <br />Confer Agreement,representatives of the City of La Porte and representatives of La Porte Polic <br />Association began work in April to complete the annual process prescribed in Article III-Wages.This process <br />includesa market studyof comparativepolice agencies,calculation of a market median based pay scale, <br />analysis of the budgetary impact of resulting pay scale changes, and adjustment of the scale as needed to <br />comply with the total salary budget increase cap for covered employees. <br />from the previous year. The cap for year two is 4%. Therefore, each step on the scale was evenly reduced to <br />lower the budgetary impact to be equal to 4%.The resulting proposed pay scale was provided to the City and <br />th <br />Association bargaining team members for review. On May 17, City and Association teams met and agreed to <br />the proposedpay scale. As required, the full membership bodyof the Police Association has alsoaffirmatively <br />voted to accept the proposed pay scale. <br />The existing Agreement and current pay scale (Attachment A of the Agreement) arepursuant to the provisions <br />of the Texas Local Government Code and will be in effect until September 30, 2018. <br />Action Required by Council: <br />Consider approvalor other actionregarding the proposed Meet and Confer pay scaleto be effective <br />10/01/2018through 09/30/2019. <br />Approved for City Council Agenda <br />Corby Alexander,City ManagerDate <br /> <br />
