Prior to council action, Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read the caption of Ordinance 2018-3714: <br />AN ORDINANCE AM <br />LA PORTE, BY CHANGING THE ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF A 0.28 ACRE TRACT OF LAND LOCATED ON <br />ST <br />N. 1 STREET, NORTH OF W. TYLER STREET AND LEGALLY DESCRIBED AS TRACTS 9-12, BLOCK 85, <br />TOWN OF LA PORTE SUBDIVISION, FROM GENERAL COMMERCIAL (GC) TO LOW DENSITY RESIDENTIAL <br />(R-1); MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS OF FACT RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />8. ORDINANCE <br />(a) Consider approval or other action regarding an Ordinance providing for condemnation of <br />dangerous/substandard building located at 9906 Rocky Hollow based on the recommendation <br />of the Dangerous Building Inspection Board M. Kirkwood (After the public hearing was closed, <br />this item was postponed from the June 11, 2018 City Council Meeting) <br /> <br />Deputy Building Official Mike Kirkwood presented a summary. He recommending holding off on the <br />demolition at this to allow for the sale to go through. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bentley made a motion to postpone this item until the July 9, 2018, meeting. <br />Councilmember Zemanek seconded. MOTION PASSED UNAIMOUSLY 8/0. Councilmember J. Martin <br />was absent. <br /> <br />9. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION <br />(a) Discussion and possible action regarding an agreement between the City of La Porte and Quest <br />Youth Soccer Club R. Epting <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation Director Rosalyn Epting presented a summary. Scott Sotelo, with Quest Soccer, <br />was available to answer questions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zemanek made a motion to accept the agreement as presented, but with removal of <br />MOTION PASSED <br />UNAIMOUSLY 8/0. Councilmember J. Martin was absent. <br />10. (a) Receive report of the Fiscal Affairs Committee Meeting held on June 13, 2018 <br /> Councilmember Chuck Engelken <br />Councilmember Engelken provided a report of the Fiscal Affairs Committee Meeting held on June 13, <br />2018 <br />done a great j <br />practice. <br />(b) Receive report of the La Porte Development Corporation Board Meeting held on June 25, 2018 <br /> Councilmember Nancy Ojeda <br /> <br />Councilmember Ojeda provided a report of the La Porte Development Corporation Board Meeting held <br />prior to the City Council Meeting. She reported on the proposed budget and stated the board members <br />decided to work with the current strategic plan and not go forward with a new one. <br />11. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br />City Manager Corby Alexander advised Council that staff will look into Mr. Kopycinsconcerns; he <br />also stated the City has received preclearance on five projects through HARVEY funding.
