INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT <br />THE STATE OF TEXAS § <br /> § <br />COUNTY OF HARRIS § <br />This Interlocal Agreement (“Agreement”) for Fixed Route Bus Service is made and entered <br />into pursuant to Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code by and between Harris County, Texas, <br />a body corporate and politic under the laws of the State of Texas, hereinafter called the “County,” <br />and the City of La Porte, a home-rule city under the laws of the State of Texas, hereinafter called <br />“La Porte.” The County and La Porte may each be referred to herein as a “Party” or collectively <br />as the “Parties.” <br />Recitals <br /> Certain portions of eastern Harris County lie outside the jurisdictional boundaries and <br />service area of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas, including areas within <br />the corporate limits of La Porte. <br />The Parties find that the operation of fixed route bus service as provided for in this <br />Agreement will enhance regional mobility and support transit services within the County and La <br />Porte. <br /> The Parties now desire to enter into this Agreement to establish a new term for the fixed <br />route bus service and to provide for responsibilities and funding of that service. <br />TERMS: <br />ARTICLE I. Agreement and Definitions <br />1.1Scope of Agreement. County, upon receipt of funding from La Porte and matching <br />federal funds, will provide for the operation of fixed route bus servicesas described in more detail <br />in Exhibit A. <br /> 1.2 Definitions. For the purposes of this Agreement, the following terms shall have the <br />meanings set forth below: <br />1.2.1“Fixed Route Bus Service”means services provided on a repetitive, fixed schedule <br />basis along a specific route with vehicles stopping to pick up and deliver passengers to specific <br />locations; each fixed route trip serves the same origins and destinations. <br />Page 1 of 11 <br /> <br />
