The bid was advertised in the Bay <br />Area Observer and posted on the City of La Porte website and Public Purchase. The <br />bid was accessed by eight (8) vendors, with two (2) returning a bid. Century Asphalt, <br />Ltd. was the lowest bid and met the required specifications of the bid. <br /> <br />The materials will be used by in-house staff for the routine maintenance of asphalt <br />streets and base preparation for the Annual Asphalt Overlay Program. The initial <br />contract will be for a period of one (1) year with two (2) additional one-year renewals. <br /> <br />The City has utilized Century Asphalt, Ltd. in the past with no issues. Staff is confident <br />that they will be able to provide the City with the desired level of services expected. <br />Staff recommends awarding the bid to the low bidder, Century Asphalt, Ltd. <br /> <br />ACTION REQUIRED BY COUNCIL <br /> <br />Consider approval or other action awarding Bid #19008 to Century Asphalt, Ltd. for the <br />purchase of Black Base Hot Asphalt Mix at $54 per ton and Type D Hot Asphalt Mix at <br />$57 per ton for a total annual maximum cost of $139,500 and a $10,000 contingency. <br />Approved for the City Council meeting agenda <br /> <br />
