rortamatton <br />Office of the vapor <br />/HEREAS, one in three women and one in ten men report abuse in their relationships in the form of physical, <br />motional, sexual, psychological and economic. Domestic violence effects women, children and men of all racial, <br />Dcial, religious, ethnic and economic backgrounds; and <br />WHEREAS, approximately 3.3 million children witness domestic violence annually, which violence in the home is <br />the strongest indicator that will be transferred to the next generation; and everyone deserves to feel safe in their homes and <br />communities; and <br />WHEREAS, no one person, organization, agency or community can eliminate domestic violence on their own; but we can <br />work together to educate our entire population about what can be done to prevent domestic violence, support <br />victim/survivors and their significant others, and increase support for agencies providing services to victim/survivors; and <br />WHEREAS, Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month provides an excellent opportunity for citizens of La Porte <br />and surrounding communities to reduce domestic violence through prevention, education, increased awareness, <br />encouraging every person to speak out when witnessing acts of violence, taking time to talk about creating a healthy, <br />respectful, and safe community, and holding perpetrators who commit acts of violence responsible for their actions. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Louis R.
