SUMMARY Approved in FY 2018-19 Budget was a Capital Improvement Project for a pedestrian sidewalk from Broadway to the La Porte City limits (at Morgan’s Point city limits) along the south side of East Main Street. This project does not encompass any sections west of Broadway. East Main sidewalk completed design near the end of the FY 2018-19 budget year. It is anticipated that work would begin within 30 days after a contract execution with a project time of 120 calendar days. Sealed Bid #20002, Main Street Sidewalk Improvements, was opened and read on November 14, 2019. Sixty-eight (68) vendors were notified, with thirty-eight (38) contractors downloading the bid documents. Four (4) Bids were received. Brooks Concrete, Inc. submitted the lowest bid in the amount of $270,466.75. Brooks Concrete has performed multiple jobs for the City in the past and has an established record of excellent performance. Staff’s recommendation is to award Sealed Bid #20002 to Brooks Concrete, Inc. in the amount of $270,466.75 and a construction contingency of $28,000.00 (~10%). Total authorization for Main Street Sidewalk Improvements will be $298,466.75 RECOMMENDED MOTION I move to award Sealed Bid #20002 for Main Street Sidewalk Improvements to Brooks Concrete Inc. and authorize the City Manager to enter into a construction contract totaling $270,466.75 and approval of construction contingency of $28,000, for a total authorization of $298,466.75. r Approved for the City Council meeting agenda Corby D.
