PUBLIC HEARINGS AND ASSOCIATED ITEMS <br />(a) The City Council will hold a public hearing to receive comments regarding a recommendation by the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission to adopt Ordinance 2020-3770 amending <br />the City of La Porte Code of Ordinances in connection with a review and update to Chapter 106, <br />-3770. \[Ian Clowes, <br />City Planner\] <br />Mayor Rigby opened the public hearing at 6:13 p.m. Ian Clowes gave a brief presentation <br />update was three of the more pressing items considered for revision. Mayor Rigby closed the public hearing <br />at 6:45 p.m. Councilperson Earp moved that the Council adopt Ordinance 2020-3770 amending Chapter 106, <br /> of the City of La Porte Code of Ordinances, striking Sections 106-800 (b) Landscaping standards <br />and (c) Screening standards and directing that those sections be returned to the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission for additional review. Councilperson Garza moved to amend the motion to direct that the entire <br />ordinance be returned to the Planning and Zoning Commission for additional review; the motion was not <br />seconded and was not considered. The original motion was adopted, 8-1, Councilperson Garza voting <br />against. <br />4. STATUTORY AGENDA <br />(a) Presentation, discussion, and possible action to authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement with the <br />La Porte - Bayshore Chamber of Commerce for general promotional and tourist advertising of the City <br />of La Porte, to conduct solicitation and operating programs, and to conduct special programs to <br />contract conventions and visitors, including the establishment and operation by the Chamber of a <br />convention and visitors bureau, in the annual amount of $165,000.00 for a term of three (3) years <br />beginning on October 1, 2019, and expiring on September 30, 2022. \[Jason Weeks, Assistant City <br />Manager\] <br /> <br />(Councilperson Martin signed a Conflict of Interest affidavit and did not participate in the discussion or vote on <br />the item.)
