The Board consists of <br />seven positions. <br />25, 2020, for review and consideration. <br /> <br />From City Code as regards the Board generally: <br /> <br />Sec. 82-10. - Building codes appeals board. In order to hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations <br />made by the building official relative to the application and interpretation of the building codes adopted in this chapter, <br />there shall be and is hereby created by the City Council of the City of La Porte a Building Codes Appeals Board. (Ord. <br />No. 2004-2733, § 1, 5-10-04) <br /> <br />Sec. 82-11. - Compilation of board. The building code appeals board shall consist of seven resident electors of the City <br />of La Porte who the City Council deems competent to serve on such board by virtue of their experience and training in <br />matters pertaining to building construction. Members of the building code appeals board may not be employed by the <br />City of La Porte. (Ord. No. 2004-2733, § 1, 5-10-04) <br />requires member to be registered voter who lives in La Porte city limits. <br /> <br />Sec. 82-12. - Term. Members of the building code appeals board are appointed by the city council, for a term of three <br />years, and serve at the pleasure of the city council. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term of any member whose <br />term becomes vacant for any cause, in the same manner as the original appointment was made. All cases to be heard by <br />the building code appeals board will always be heard by a minimum of four members. (Ord. No. 2004-2733, § 1, 5-10- <br />04) <br /> <br />Sec. 82-13. - Rules and meetings. The building code appeals board shall adopt rules of procedure in accordance with <br />the provisions of this chapter, and this Code. Meetings of the board shall be held at the call of the chairman and at such <br />other times as at least four members of the building code appeals board may determine. All meetings of the building <br />code appeals board shall be open to the public. The building code appeals board shall keep minutes of its proceedings, <br />showing the vote of each member upon each question, or if absent or in failing to vote, indicating such fact, and shall <br />keep records of all of its official acts, all of which shall be immediately filed in the office of the city secretary and shall <br />become a public record. (Ord. No. 2004-2733, § 1, 5-10-04) * The Code is silent on choice of chairman, therefore, the <br />Board is entitled to select its chairman itself. Appointments are not by Council District. <br /> <br />
