The current Library <br />flooring was installed in 2001. Staff requested a quote from Continental Flooring for <br />the removal of all carpet, which will be replaced with carpet tiles that can be changed <br />out when needed. The requested quote also contained the removal of all vinyl <br />composition tile from high occupancy <br />Staff Conference Room, and Staff Break Room) to be replaced with vinyl tile. The <br />proposal for both carpet and vinyl tile totals $107,204. Recently, Continental Flooring <br />removed and installed the flooring at City Hall. Their installers were very professional <br />and did a good job staying on schedule. <br /> <br />Continental Flooring has been awarded a contract (Contract # R171701) for <br />commercial floor coverings through US Communities/National IPA Cooperative. The <br />City is a member of this cooperative. Per the Inter-Local Cooperation ACT. V.C.T.A <br />Government Code, Chapter 791, government entities may enter into joint contract and <br />agreements for the performance of governmental functions and services including <br />administrative function normally associated with the operation of government, such as <br />purchasing supplies and services. <br /> <br />The approved budget for the Library flooring project is $120,000. The remaining funds, <br />after the flooring is complete, will be used for minor interior painting and wall repair. <br />Staff recommends approving the purchase of library flooring from Continental Flooring <br />in the amount of $107,204 and allow a 10% contingency of $10,720, for a total of <br />$117,924. This purchase would utilize the US Communities/National IPA Cooperative <br />Contract #R171701. <br /> <br />
