AGREEMENT BETWEEN HARRIS COUNTY AND CITY OF LA PORTE, RELATING <br />TO RUNOFF ELECTION TO BE HELD <br />DECEMBER 12, 2020 <br /> THIS AGREEMENT is made and entered into by and between Harris County, a body corporate and <br />politic under the laws of the State of Texas, , on behalf of the Harris County Elections <br />Administrator, Isabel Longoria, <br />Code and CITY OF LA PORTE (hereinafter referred to as the Entity. The effective date is the date <br />countersigned below. <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />The Entity contemplates holding a runoff election on December 12, 2020 to be conducted by the <br />County; and <br /> <br />Part or all of the Entity lies within the boundaries of Harris County. <br /> <br />The Joint Election shall be conducted utilizing county-wide polling places pursuant to Section <br />43.007(a)(5) of the Texas Election Code. <br />The County will be using an electronic voting system, eSlatethat has <br />been duly approved by the Secretary of State and duly approved by the United States Justice Department for use <br />in Harris County; and <br />The Entity desires to use the County's Voting System in its election and agrees to compensate the <br />County for such use and certain other expenses connected with such election in accordance with the Texas <br />Election Code; and <br />The Entity is willing to conduct a joint election with other entities as agreed with the Contracting <br />Officer; and <br />The Contracting Officer desires to provide certain election services to the Entity for its election to be <br />held on December 12, 2020; and <br /> <br />WHEREFORE in consideration of the mutual covenants, agreements and benefits to the parties, IT IS <br />AGREED as follows: <br /> <br />TERMS: <br />I. Entity <br />1. In Generals governing body will approve this agreement with the Contracting <br />Official for election services and will appoint Isabel Longoria, Harris County Elections Administrator, as the <br />Early Voting Clerk and Central Count Manager in the Election Order. Additionally, the Entity will appoint <br />Isabel Longoria, Harris County Elections Administrator, to perform duties as the election officer and custodian <br />of records, requiring her to maintain election records except for those records the Entity is responsible for <br />generating and maintaining including, but not limited to, candidate filings, posting, notices, and canvass reports. <br />The Entity is responsible for preparation of election orders, resolutions, notices and other pertinent documents <br />for adoption or execution by the appropriate officer of the Entity with regard to the election; and is responsible <br />for making their own submissions, if any is required or desired, to the United States Department of Justice; and <br />receives candidate filings. The Entity will compensate the Contracting Official for use of equipment and to <br /> <br />
