Sergeant Richard Ayers <br />La Porte Police Department <br />Sergeant Richard Ayers is a native Texan, born in Harris County and <br />currently a resident of La Porte. He Graduated Pasadena High School <br />1979 and received his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Law <br />Enforcement and Law Enforcement Certificate of Technology from San <br />Jacinto Junior College in 1983. <br />Sergeant Ayers began his Law Enforcement Career with the La Porte <br />Police Department in April of 1985 and promoted to Sergeant August 22, <br />2008. <br />He has served in the patrol division, working all areas and patrol shifts. <br />He has been a Field Training Officer, teaching new officers procedures, <br />policies, and how to work safely. He also was a Drug Abuse Resistance <br />Education (D.A.R.E.) Instructor, who taught many La Porte students from <br />1990 to 2003. For many years he was assigned to the Support Services <br />Division and was a Certified Crime Prevention Specialist and a State <br />Licensed Police Instructor. <br />Sergeant Ayers is retiring as a Sergeant in the Patrol Division of the Police <br />Department. We wish him many wonderful years in his retirement and <br />hope this provides him valuable time with his wife Carol and their two <br />children. <br />n. <br />
