rortamatton <br />IHEREAS, National Preparedness Month is a nationwide coordinated effort <br />)onsored each September by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to <br />gcourage all Americans to prepare for emergencies in their homes, organizations, and <br />,hools; and <br />WHEREAS, the theme of National Preparedness Month 2022 is "A Lasting Legacy", <br />an effort intended to increase public awareness concerning the importance of preparing for <br />emergencies and to persuade individuals and families to take action; and <br />WHEREAS, first responders may not always be able to assist you quickly in an emergency or <br />disaster; furthermore, the most important step you can take in helping them is being able to take <br />care of yourself and those in your care for at least a short period of time following an incident; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the La Porte Office of Emergency Management, Fire Department, Police <br />Department, and Emergency Medical Services strive to increase public awareness of the need <br />to prepare for emergencies and disasters; and <br />WHEREAS, emergency preparedness is the responsibility of everyone in La Porte and all <br />community members are urged to make preparedness a priority by taking three simple steps: <br />Prepare an emergency supply kit; make an emergency plan, and stay connected with City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Louis R. Rigby, Mayor, do hereby proclaim the month of September <br />2022, as <br />in the City of La Porte, and I encourage individuals and organizations to be empowered to take <br />action that will make our community resilient, thereby creating a safer and more prepared La <br />Porte. <br />In Witness Whereof: I have hereto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City to be affixed <br />hereto, this the 121h day of September, 2022. <br />Cttp of la J)ort>e <br />Louis R.
