Section 3 <br />Marketing <br />BAHEP Showcases City of La Porteto Brokers and Developers <br />Existing real estate opportunities located within BAHEP’s member cities were <br />showcased to more than 140 brokers and developers during BAHEP’s highly <br />successful Business Development Reception held at theHouston Engineering and <br />Scientific Society (HESS) Club. Representatives from member cities, including <br />City of La Porte <br />the , and the BAHEP staff networked with the brokers and <br />developers and discussed specific real estate opportunities. Charles Savino from <br />CDS Market Research briefed the audience on demographics and trends for the <br />region. Bob Mitchell of BAHEP provided an overview of the Bay Area Houston <br />economic climate, including recent developments with NASA’s budget and <br />BAHEP’s target industries. Mitchell also introduced the audience to BayTech <br />and its goals and recent successes. BayTech, the Bay Area Houston Advanced <br />Technology Consortium, is a501(c)(3) non-profit corporation formed by BAHEP <br />comprised of industry and academic partnerscreated to capitalize on this region’s <br />vast knowledge base to meet the R&D needs of various federal agencies. Its <br />goals are to create and preserve Bay Area Houston jobs and generate revenue <br />streams for consortium participants. <br />Site Consultant meets with City of La Porte <br />BAHEP hosted Ann Harts of Hickey & Associates, a world-wide site consultant, <br />and arranged for her to meet with representatives of three BAHEP member cities <br />to discuss opportunities within these cities. Hickey & Associates clients range <br />from aerospace companies such as Lockheed Martin to T-shirt manufacturers. <br />Stacey Osborne / City of La Porte <br />The attendees were , Jim Reddington and <br />Rick Beverlin / City of Kemah and Karen Coglianese / City of Webster. Dudley <br />VanNess of CenterPoint Energy arranged for Hickey & Associates to visit with <br />various municipalities in the Houston region. Following Hart’s visit, Barbara <br />Cutsinger of BAHEP provided information to her on Ellington Airport for a <br />helicopter company Hartrepresents. <br />BAHEP works with Departmentof Commerce to Facilitate Exports <br />Dan Seal of BAHEP met with Danielle Caltabiano, senior international trade <br />specialist for the U.S Commercial Services Division of the U.S Department of <br />Commerce to discuss import and export trade activities and how to assist <br />companies in distributing products overseas. <br />ACIT First Annual Houston Ship Reverse Trade Show <br />BAHEP co-hosted the Association of Chemical Industry of Texas First Annual <br />Reverse Trade Show along with the East Harris County Manufacturers <br />Associationand the Economic Alliance Houston PortRegion.Purchasing agents <br />from large chemical and industrial companies met with local business in one-on- <br />one sessions. BAHEP exhibited its booth along with 18 other businesses and <br />organizations during the event which was held at the Pasadena Convention <br />Center. The event was highly successful, drawing 480 registrants. <br />13 <br /> <br />
