Promote private development of La Porte's bay front <br />properties. <br />Strategy Request that the City's Planning and Zoning <br />Commission conduct the following activities: <br />- identify water front properties desirable for, <br />but not limited to the development of: marina, <br />water sports complex, full service conference <br />hotel, and restaurants and offices; <br />- ensure residential access to the bay front <br />through zoning controls, including, but not <br />limited to: single family low density <br />residential and high density residential; <br />- review present zoning and development ordinances <br />and La Porte planning documents, to insure that <br />appropriate zoning and development restrictions <br />are in place to facilitated target development <br />goals; <br />- inventory current vacant land available for <br />development, and land available for future <br />development and/or redevelopment and <br />- formulate and adopt an action plan which acquires <br />and constructs necessary roads and utilities <br />along the bay front area. <br />objective 3. Ensure that the La Porte Bay front area, both public <br />and private, is environmentally sound. <br />Strategy To ensure that all environmental protection <br />regulations are enforced, it is recommended that the <br />city's Community Development Department establish <br />strong communications lines with state and federal <br />agencies having jurisdiction over Galveston Bay and <br />La Porte estuaries. <br />Goal II.
