Precinct 2 current and future plans related to Flooding in the City of La Porte. <br />[Ray Mayo, Director of Public Works] <br />Mr. Mayo said Harris County notified the City that it has been awarded a $3.5M grant <br />for Phase II of the Brookglen Drainage Project and that there may be additional grants <br />awarded. Member Engelken asked that staff and the contractor attend each <br />neighborhood meeting. He also expressed concern about the very deep excavations <br />on the site and the contractor's responsibility to prevent kids from accessing them, <br />asking to consider additional safeguards for the construction site. <br />Mr. Mayo said the Northside Neighborhood Project Phase II was closing out this <br />month. <br />6. CURRENT DRAINAGE PROJECT UPDATE - Presentation, discussion, and <br />possible action regarding the status of current drainage projects. [Ray Mayo, <br />Director of Public Works] <br />Mr. Mayo said bids have been received for the second phase of the Lomax Lift Station <br />consolidation project, a portion of which includes paving and drainage improvements <br />to Coupland Drive; a $3M project funded entirely by the City, to address inadequate <br />drainage. <br />Regarding the Bayside Terrace Project item on tonight's Council agenda, Mr. Mayo <br />said the change in the street base preparation method required additional <br />geotechnical testing that necessitates the additional funding. <br />7. ADDITIONAL DRAINAGE CONCERNS - Presentation, discussion, and possible <br />action to provide administrative staff of the City with direction, if necessary, <br />regarding additional drainage concerns.
