t <br />IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE <br />The consultant has worked extensively with the <br />Council and staff to develop the profile of the ideal <br />candidate to become Keller's next City Manager. <br />Current salary is over $155,000, plus a strong <br />benefits package. Salary will not be an obstacle in <br />finding the right individual to take Keller to the next <br />performance level as an organization. The following <br />ideal profile is not in priority order: <br />Education <br />Bachelor's Degree in public administration, business <br />administration, or related field required. Masters <br />Degree in public administration or business <br />administration strongly desired. An impressive <br />performance history as a successful and results - <br />oriented city manager or senior level executive may <br />substitute for specific educational expectations. <br />Experience <br />City manager or senior level executive experience <br />strongly desired, but assistant city manager or <br />department head experience in a comparable or <br />larger city will be considered. Experience should <br />demonstrate progressively greater responsibility <br />throughout career, and a demonstrated record of <br />success in handling issues similar to those facing <br />Keller. <br />The successful candidate should have a <br />demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate with <br />residential, industrial and commercial developers <br />and economic development prospects regarding a <br />variety of diverse issues including financial, planning <br />and development strategies to further Council's <br />goals and objectives in those areas. <br />An understanding of effective strategies for historic <br />preservation and preserving and promoting Old <br />Town Keller as well as strategies for preserving the <br />natural beauty of the community will be a plus. <br />Strong financial management skills are expected. <br />The successful manager will have the ability to lead <br />the organization in a manner that helps them thrive <br />in a rapid growth environment which requires a <br />sophisticated understanding of complex issues, <br />many with significant long term financial impacts. <br />demonstrated ability to recruit and retain high <br />performance employees in all areas of city <br />operations is critical, as well as creating and <br />nurturing within those employees a commitment to <br />responsive and cost effective city services, with a <br />high emphasis on outstanding customer service <br />skills. <br />The successful candidate will have a personal track <br />record of developing a very strong team atmosphere <br />between the manager and council, and between the <br />manager and the community, as well as between the <br />manager and staff, while creating an. atmosphere in <br />which accountability for meeting performance <br />expectations is expected and demonstrated. <br />A demonstrated track record of working well with <br />varied agendas, interests and opinions is important, <br />as well as the ability to be an effective consensus <br />builder among those various individuals and groups. <br />A previous history of ensuring that Council direction <br />is promptly and effectively translated into action will <br />help to create a successful relationship with the <br />Council. <br />Demonstrated success in stimulating positive <br />economic growth is highly desired, particularly in <br />regard to developing proactive and customer friendly <br />development processes and practices, while <br />continuing to maintain high quality standards. <br />Management Style <br />It is essential for the successful candidate to <br />innovative leader, with a successful track re( <br />leading change initiatives, including creai <br />significant culture shift towards an <br />commitment to openness and customer sp,,r.v <br />A dynamic and charismatic visionary leader <br />highly results -oriented is desired. .` <br />
