Economic Development Services Report to City of La Porte <br />2014 - 2015 Services <br /> <br />transportation industry, provided best practices and lessons learned from international transportation <br />partnerships and projects. <br /> <br />th <br />June 17 Houston Regional Workforce and Education Forum <br />The Economic Alliance attended a roundtable discussion hosted by GHP at HCC Central with Texas <br />Education Agency Commissioner, Michael Williams; Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board <br />Commissioner, Raymund Paredes; and Texas Workforce Commission Chairman, Andres Alcantar. <br /> <br />th <br />June 18 Houston District Export Council <br />The Economic Alliance attended a Houston District Export Council outreach event focused on <br />supporting the reauthorization of the U.S. Export Import Bank. <br /> <br />th <br />June 18 Texas Freight Mobility Plan Draft Recommendations Listening Session <br />Comments were provided on highways, rail, maritime, and funding and policy. The plan is slated to <br />be completed by the end of the year. The Economic Alliance also extended a special invitation to <br />Caroline Mays, Manager of the Freight Transportation Planning Branch to come and meet with a <br />focused group of cities and industries from the Houston Ship Channel Region. <br /> <br />th <br />June 18 Meeting with Novvi LLC, Project Falcon <br />Marie McDermott met with John Carnahan, C.O.O., of Novvi LLC, with a tax consultant, Grant <br />Thornton about their proposal. The presentations focused on raising awareness about the high-paying careers <br />in the Petrochemical, logistics, and maritime industries. Topics included an overview of the recent <br />economic shift, career pathways, educational opportunities, and financial literacy.
