maintain upon the Not or premises on which the swimming pool is located and completely surrounding <br />the swimming pool, a fence, wall or other solid structure no less than 44 inches high; provided, <br />however, that the building official may waive such fence, wall or other solid structure surrounding <br />such pool on one or more sides if, in his opinion, natural obstructions or barriers such as bays, rivers, <br />seawalls and bulkheads make such unnecessary. Every opening in such fence or wall shall be <br />equipped with a self -closing and self -latching device designed to keep and capable of keeping such <br />doors or gates securely closed at all times when not in actual use. The term "swimming pool" is <br />defined as any structure, basin, chamber, tank or other receptacle capable of containing an artificial <br />body of water for swimming, diving or recreational bathing and having a depth of three feet or more. <br />(b) All plans hereafter submitted to the city for swimming pools to be constructed shall show compliance <br />with the requirements Of Subsection (a) of this section and the final inspection and approval of all <br />pools hereafter constructed shall be withheld until all requirements of section 82-634 shall have been <br />complied with by the owner, purchaser under contract, lessee, tenant or licensee. <br />(Code 19,70, § 22V2-5) <br />Sec. 82-636. -Additional construction requirements,, <br />In addition to the other requirements of this article, all swimming pools constructed in the city shall <br />meet the following additional requirements: <br />(1) The drainpipe, ring and seat shall be of noncorrosive material., <br />(2) A SUMP shall be constructed under the pool, if the pool is of a depth of nine feet or more, to <br />allow for draining and refilling. <br />(3) A light shall be installed at the deep end of the pool if the pool is more than seven feet deep. <br />(4) Swimming pools shall be drained in city storm drains only, and shall not be drained in sanitary <br />sewer drains. <br />(5) Allswimming pools shall be equipped with a backwash system. <br />(Code 1970, § 22Y2-6) <br />
