Public Hearings and Associated Ordinances <br />State law provides for public hearings on particular items, such as the annual City budget, <br />tax rate, and some land use decisions. Members of the public may speak when the presiding <br />officer calls for comments, without signing up in advance. (Generally limited to five minutes <br />per person; in accordance with state law, the time may be reduced if there is a high number <br />of speakers or for other considerations.) <br />Members of the Council may ask questions or make statements of fact in response to <br />comments but are not obligated to respond and will not participate in debate or take action <br />until the public hearing is closed and the item is placed before them for consideration. <br />7.a Public Hearing on Emergency Services District Fiscal Year 2025-25 Adopted Budget <br />The City Council will hold a public hearing to receive comments on the proposed <br />budget of the La Porte Fire Control, Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services <br />District for Fiscal Year 2025-26, as approved by the La Porte Fire Control, <br />Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services District Board of Directors at its <br />meeting held on June 17, 2025; following by discussion and possible action to <br />approve or deny the Fiscal Year 2025-26 proposed budget of the La Porte Fire <br />Control, Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services District.
