Wolny, Shelley <br />From: <br />Sent: <br />To: <br />Subject: <br />TheCitypurchasedtheautomatedmeterreadingsystem(AMR)in2006.Sincethattime,wehaveencounterednormal <br />wearandtearmaintenanceissuesregardingtheelectroniccomponentsofthesystem.Wehavebeenabletomaintain <br />thesystemoverthelastfewyearswithminimalinventoryinstock;however,astimepassedandthesystembeganto <br />agethemaintenanceissuesincreased. <br />Wehavetworeadcycles3,and4.Staffreadseachcyclemonthlyandtheexpectedoutcomeofthereadsisforthe <br />systemtoelectronicallyreadatleast95(ninetyfivepercent)ofeachassignedmeterroute.However,wearereceiving <br />other13%hastobereadmanually.Themeterreadingstaffconsistof3individualswho <br />roughly87%percent.The <br />havesporadicallyreplacedthecomponentsofthetroubledmeters,buttheyhavenotbeenabletogetaheadofthe <br />continualsystemdegradation,whichifnotcorrectednowmayendangerourabilitytoprovidequalitycustomer <br />service. <br />Therefore,staffisrequestingfundingof$80,000topurchaseroughly400componentsthatcanbeexchangedwiththe <br />manufacturerfornewcomponents.Theexchangeprogramwillprovidethecitysubstantialinventorytocorrectfuture <br />maintenanceissues.ThefundingwillcomefromtheUtilityCIPEғ7x­fundbalance. <br />Thanks, <br />Michael <br />1 <br />E <br /> <br />
