Definitions <br />For the purposes of this agreement, the following definitions shall apply: <br />A) "Accredited College or University" means one that is listed by an accrediting agency approved <br />by the United States Department of Education, and as of result of that accreditation, offers <br />courses that a re "accredited" <br />B) "Chief" means the Chief of Police of the La Porte Police Department or his designee. <br />C) "City" means the City of La Porte, Texas. <br />D) "Coveted position" as used in this Agreement mea ns any position in the Department to <br />which more than one sworn employee has expressed an interest in being assigned by the <br />Chief. <br />E) "Department" means the La Porte Police Department. <br />F) "Employee" means a sworn Police Officer who is a member of the bargaining unit. <br />G) "Employer" means the City of La Porte. <br />H) "Officer" means any sworn Police Officer who is a covered by this Agreement. <br />I) "Association" means the La Porte Police Officers' Association <br />J) "TCOLE means the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. <br />K) "TLGC" means the Texas Local Government Code. <br />Unless otherwise stated, it is understood and mutually agreed that masculine and feminine <br />pronouns refer to, and include, both genders equally. <br />3 <br /> <br />
