At the June 11, 2018, hearing, Council postponed further action <br />until June 25, 2018, at which time the City Attorney will provide additional information. <br />Subsequent to this meeting, as required by Chapter 82, Article VIII of the Code of Ordinances, a <br />notice was published twice (May 31 & June 7) in the Bay Area Observer and posted to the City <br />of La Porte public bulletin board. Also, certified letters (voluntary consent to demolish form and <br />public notice) were mailed to the building owners. City staff also posted the required notices to <br />each property. <br />As of June 12, 2018, the total taxes owed on the property are $15,630.55. After speaking with <br />the City's tax attorneys, they stated it could take 4 — 6 months to get a court date; and the entire <br />process would take 6 — 8 months to put the property up for a tax sale. <br />The purpose is to receive property owner, citizen, and staff input as to why the buildings should <br />or should not be condemned and demolished.
