City Council last
adopted this plan on March 9, 2015. The five year update is used to measure the
effectiveness of the current plan and develop future 5-year and 10-year goals. The
intent of a water conservation plan is to achieve an overall reduction in per -capita use
and a reduction in waste of water resources.
All water providers throughout Texas that have more than 3,300 retail connections are
required to develop a Water Conservation Plan, submit annual reports and submit five-
year updates to the plan. Five-year updates are required to be adopted by the governing
body as an ordinance or resolution.
Highlights of the changes were administrative in nature, such as new language
requirements for water conservation plans or numerical changes from usage patterns,
as noted in future 5 and 10 year goals (goals are non -enforceable). Minor changes were
made in the Education section to demonstrate more reliance on website or electronic
media usage. The remainder of the changes were for grammar or clarity. Staff has
included a "marked up" copy as reference to these changes.
RECOMMENDED MOTION
Water
