This optionwas found to be a significant cost savings in comparison to total equipment replacement.In April of 2021 the single bid amount provided for total replacement was $518,113.52.This bid was rejected in favor of the re-condition option. In FY22 this project will be completed with the re-conditioning of belt press #2.The FY22 portion of the project was also identified to be funded using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. The scope consists of part replacementonthebelt filter pressunit with new factory parts, . This offer includes an extended warranty on high wear parts; a three (3) year warranty on 18 rollers and a two (2) year warranty on 36 bearing assemblies. The proposed cost to re-conditionthe belt press is $198,320.00.Replacement of allmoving and wearparts will provide an expected service life equal to a new unit. The Purchasing Department has reviewed the proposal and has approved Alfa Laval as a sole-source contractor. Staff recommendsapproval of the re-conditioning proposaloffered by Alfa Laval Inc. with a cost of $198,320.00as a sole source contractor and a project contingency of $1,680.00. The scope of the project replaces all moveable and wear parts, therefore a larger contingency amount is not required. Benefits: Option to rebuild will save significant costs over total replacement. Service life is expectedto be equal to a new unit. Extended warranty on high-wear parts. Liabilities:
