Ms. Pulleine approached City Attorney Knox Askins and asked if the City would be interested in acquiring the property. The Tax suit is attached, showing a total of $1,112.68 owed in the suit for years 2006-2009 as of April 2011. This item was tabled at the meeting on July 11, 2011. Council requested a complete list of taxes owed on the property and an estimate of how much it would cost to pave those lots for parking on Main Street, and also an estimated number of parking spaces that could be accommodated. TAXES OWED The complete list of taxes owed on the property is attached. In summary, the La Porte Main Street Association owes a total of $1888.53, broken down as follows: City of La Porte and LPISD $1,371.78 Harris County $516.75 OTHER ACQUISITION COSTS Court Costs $639.00 Estimate of 2011 prorated taxes $156.88 PARKING According to Reagan McPhail, those lots could conceivably accommodate up to 11 cars, accessed from the alley and arranged as 90-degree parking spaces. An estimated cost for an asphalt lot would be $25,000, while a concrete lot would cost approximately $35,000.
