Ms. Pulleine <br />approached City Attorney Knox Askins and asked if the City would be interested in acquiring <br />the property. The Tax suit is attached, showing a total of $1,112.68 owed in the suit for years <br />2006-2009 as of April 2011. <br />This item was tabled at the meeting on July 11, 2011. Council requested a complete list of taxes <br />owed on the property and an estimate of how much it would cost to pave those lots for parking <br />on Main Street, and also an estimated number of parking spaces that could be accommodated. <br />TAXES OWED <br />The complete list of taxes owed on the property is attached. In summary, the La Porte Main <br />Street Association owes a total of $1888.53, broken down as follows: <br />City of La Porte and LPISD $1,371.78 <br />Harris County $516.75 <br />OTHER ACQUISITION COSTS <br />Court Costs $639.00 <br />Estimate of 2011 prorated taxes $156.88 <br />PARKING <br />According to Reagan McPhail, those lots could conceivably accommodate up to 11 cars, <br />accessed from the alley and arranged as 90-degree parking spaces. An estimated cost for an <br />asphalt lot would be $25,000, while a concrete lot would cost approximately $35,000. <br />
