The process for cities and towns involves two steps: nomination and election. We are at the ELECTION stage. On September 12, 2011, City Council nominated by Resolution Mr. Ed Heathcott to the Harris County Appraisal District Board of Directors for a two -year term commencing January 1, 2012. Before Council is a Resolution casting the City's ballot for the election of Mr. Heathcott. There are no other candidates representing cities other than the City of Houston. This Resolution and Certificate of Ballot must be sent to the Chief Appraiser of the HCAD no later than Monday, December 19, 2011. Should Council desire to cast their ballot for Ed Heathcott to the Harris County Appraisal District Board of Directors, for a two -year term commencing January 1, 2012, staff recommends Council adopt this Resolution, and, additionally, authorize the Mayor to sign and the City Secretary to attest the Certificate of Ballot for Board of Directors for Harris County Appraisal District. Action Required by Council: Consider adopting a resolution casting a ballot appointing Ed Heathcott to the Harris County Appraisal District Board and authorize the Mayor to sign the Certificate of Ballot for Board of Directors for Harris County Appraisal District, which the City Secretary will attest.
