Responses were received <br />from Bayway Homes,Inc.,Bay Area–Houston Habitat for Humanity, and Alta Vista Homes.A <br />Selection Committee reviewed the proposals and selected Bayway Homes, Inc. as the most <br />qualified and experienced builder for the program. <br />th <br />Bayway Homes, Inc. will construct a home at 222N. 5Street, more specifically described as <br />Lots 5-7 of Block 65. The cost to construct this home is $114,900.00. <br />Throughout construction, the builder will request draws as key milestones are reached. The City <br />will pay the builder and then submit a request for reimbursement from Harris County <br />Community Services, as stipulated in Section IV –Payment Procedures of the City’s executed <br />Agreement with Harris County. <br />Council is asked to authorize a contract between the City and Bayway Homes, Inc.to construct <br />Plan #1428 with 1,428 sq. ft. <br />Project Benefits, Liability and Annual Maintenance Costs <br />Construction of the home is part of an overall project that will provide affordable housing stock <br />and ongoing renewal to the northside neighborhood. <br />However, in the event the City does not have a qualified buyer at the time home construction is <br />complete, the City will be responsible for costs associated with utilities, mowing/landscaping, <br />and if vandalism occurs, the cost for repairing damage to the structure. <br />Additionally, in accordance with our agreement with Harris County, the home must be sold <br />within 90 days of the Certificate of Occupancy, and if not, it will become an affordable rental <br />unit, which the City would be required to manage.Annual operating costs to manage the unit as <br /> <br />
