Definitions <br />For the purposes of this agreement, the following definitions shall apply: <br />A) "Accredited College or University" means one that is listed by an <br />accrediting agency approved by the United States Department of <br />Education, and as of result of that accreditation, offers courses that are <br />"accredited" <br />B) "Chief" means the Chief of Police of the La Porte Police Department or his <br />designee. <br />C) "City" means the City of La Porte, Texas. <br />D) "Coveted position" as used in this Agreement means any position in the <br />Department to which more than one sworn employee has expressed an <br />interest in being assigned by the Chief. <br />E) "Department" means the La Porte Police Department. <br />F) "Employee" means a sworn Police Officer who is a member of the <br />bargaining unit. <br />G) "Employer" means the City of La Porte. <br />H) "Officer" means any sworn Police Officer who is a covered by this <br />Agreement. <br />1) "Association" means the La Porte Police Officers' Association <br />J) "TCLEOSE" means the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers <br />Standards and Education. <br />K) "TLGC" means the Texas Local Government Code. <br />Unless otherwise stated, it is understood and mutually agreed that masculine and <br />feminine pronouns refer to, and include, both genders equally. <br />3 <br />
