<br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />POLICIES/PROCEDURES MANUAL <br /> <br />Date:Approved: <br /> April 30, 2015 City Council Meeting Held on _____________ <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> Industrial Waste Surcharge Fees for Non-Significant Industrial Users <br /> <br />Responsible Agency: <br /> Public Works Department <br /> <br />Policy Objective: <br /> Reduce industrial waste sanitary sewer surcharge fees for Non- <br />Significant Industrial Users including restaurants. Staff will monitor <br />Industrial User effluent sampling results for one-year and report the <br /> <br />findings to City Council. <br /> <br />Authorization__ <br />: City Council Approved Meeting Date _________ <br /> <br />Policy Summary: <br /> <br />Effective with June 2015 city utility bills for May 2015 water and sewer consumption, <br />the operation and maintenance (O & M) variable in the Industrial Waste Surcharge <br />formula provided in City Ordinance Section 74-206 will be equal to $0.64/1000 gallons. <br /> <br />Public Works staff will continue to monitor the Industrial User (IU) effluent test results <br />for Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), and Oil and <br />Grease (O & G) for twelve (12) months and report the average testing results compared <br />with the results from previous years to City Council at the end of that period. <br /> <br />Schools and other users required by building code or other code to maintain a grease trap <br />will be assessed an industrial waste surcharge for effluent stronger than the BOD and <br />TSS concentrations provided in Section 74-206. <br /> <br /> <br />
