At the June 11, 2018 hearing, Council tabled further action until June 25, 2018. At the June 25, 2018 meeting, Council postponed action until July 9, 2018. Meeting was moved to allow the Buyer time to complete purchase of the property. Subsequent to this meeting, as required by Chapter 82, Article VIII of the Code of Ordinances, a notice was published twice (May 31 & June 7) in the Bay Area Observer and posted to the City of La Porte public bulletin board. Also, certified letters (voluntary consent to demolish form and public notice) were mailed to the building owners. City staff also posted the required notices to each property. As of June 12, 2018 the total taxes owed on the property are $15,630.55. After speaking with our tax attorneys, they stated it could take 4 6 months to get a court date and the entire process would take 6 8 months to put the property up for a tax sale. The purpose is to receive property owner and staff input as to why the buildings should or should not be condemned and demolished. Afterwards, Council will be asked to consider condemnation of the structures. Action Required by Council: Consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance of condemnation of a substandard structure located at 9906 Rocky Hollow.
