CITY OF LA PORTE <br />MANAGEMENT’S DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS (continued) <br />GOVERNMENT-WIDE FINANCIAL ANALYSIS (continued) <br />The government’s total net position as a result of operations increased by $17.1 million during the current <br />fiscal year. Charges for services represented 24% of total revenues, property taxes and industrial payments <br />were 50% of total revenues, sales taxes and other taxes were 20%, the remaining revenues accounted for <br />6% of total revenues. On the expense side, public works expenses were 12% of the total, while public safety <br />was 32% and general government was 23%. Utility, LPAWA and airport expenses were 15% of total <br />expenses.
