Abbott July 27, 2020 proclamation <br />SoSAugust 10, 2020 Mass Email (CSO-3331) <br />SUMMARY& RECOMMENDATION <br />On August 10, the Texas Secretary of State(SoS)issued Mass Email (CSO-3331), on <br />updates to early voting requirements for the November 3, 2020, election, including the <br />following: <br />7. Amending the Election Order: We recommend amending the election order <br />to reflect the changes to the early voting period. This amendment does not <br />need to occur by August 17, 2020 since early voting will occur on the dates <br />This action would be taken by the authority who originally ordered the election. <br />Ordinance 2020-3797is provided for consideration to amend Ordinance 2020-3787 <br />(adopted March 30), which itself amended Ordinance2020- <br />2020 General Election (adopted January 13), by moving it to the November uniform <br />election date. <br />he SoS <br />recommendation above, Ordinance 2020-3797proposed to amend information <br />concerning theNovember 3 election, particularly as regards early voting.As shown on <br />Exhibit B to proposed Ordinance 2020-3797, anearly voting location has been <br />approved for La Porte, the Governor has extended early votingdatesfrom October 19 <br />to October 13, and Harris County is providingbroadly extended hours for early voting. <br />Staff recommends City Council approve the revised Ordinance 2020-3797. <br /> <br />
