In order to protect the health and welfare of all individuals while in <br />City buildings and facilities during times of active viral illness that are spread person to <br />person, City Council adopted an amendment to the Council Rules of Procedures <br />Ordinance. <br />On July 27, 2020, City Council approved Ordinance 2020-3796 amending the City <br />Council Rules of Procedure and Ethics Policy, for a second paragraph to be inserted in <br />Section 6.09 Item (a) to provide that, during any period in which face masks or face <br />coverings are required in publicby a local disaster declaration or other law, all <br />Councilpersons in the Council chamber must wear an appropriate face mask or face <br />coveringover both the mouth and noseduring City Council meetings. <br />On March 2, 2021, the Governor announced Executive Order GA-34, which will become <br />effective March 10, 2121. Under this new Order: <br />The statewide mask mandate is rescinded. <br />The order also statesin Section 4 <br />businesses or other establishments from requiring employees or customers to <br />(Section 4) <br />Staff has reviewed the Governororder in consultation with the City Attorney. <br />the City of La Porte would qualify under Section 4of Order GA- <br /> <br />
