The results ofthis workshop are incorporated into Chapter <br />6,|mplememtadmn. <br />Over period of 10 months, a variety ufpublic outreach and involvement <br />activities were completed, and individual elements of the master plan were <br />drafted, reviewed, and refined to produce a document for public and official <br />consideration. Throughout the process, citizens were able to review the <br />latest updates oil the [ity's website and provide feedback to City staff. <br />Residents were also able to voice support or opposition at the public hearing. <br />One ofthe most important tasks imdeveloping aplan istodetermine the key <br />issues that the community needs to address. The reconnaissance efforts <br />early in the process, combined with staff and citizen input resulted in a <br />formulation of a list of priorities in which the remaining chapters of this plan <br />address. These include: <br />m Development of aConsensus Vision and Direction. Asmentioned inthe <br />Vision section of this chapter, the citizens and City officials once again <br />needed todetermine their preferred future. Assuch, a new ^visiooKn8" <br />process was conducted during this update which resulted |n a new <br />consensus vision. <br />= Determining Strategies toAchieve the Vision. Once the consensus vision <br />was determined, the focus of the planning efforts turned toward <br />determining the appropriate strategies to achieve the new vision. The <br />strategies are detailed in the remaining chapters of this plan: <br />Land Use and Character, Infrastructure and Growth Capacity, <br />Community Mobility, and Economic Development. Residents voiced o myriad of concerns about La <br />Porte's character and appearance, especially citing the desire to <br />beautify the corridors. La Po/te"u zoning, land use regulations, <br />and other development ordinances, also warrant updating to <br />achieve the community character oraesthetic quality desired by <br />residents. The City has recently undertaken some self-initiated <br />enhancemem1 and beautification programs along its mains <br />corridors; however, to sustain a quality, attractive environment <br />will require improved (yet reasonable) development standards. <br />
