The <br />EMS Department utilizes #s*p—fkeL_Mobi|e Intensive Care Unit <br />(M|CU) ambulances in its fleet and has two M|CU ambulances on -duty at all <br />times, along with t+*e�Advanced Life Support (ALS) first responder vehicles. <br />EMS Head is located at 104283pencer Highway and <br />was built in2007.|tconsists of4,000square feet ofliving and <br />administrative pace and 4^008 square feet of apparatus bays. B\�S <br />,Head_q,uarters cu,rrently houses all th[L2_22:��ambulances until the <br />LgZpletion of fires station 1_,_scheduled to be complete,d in late 2012,_as <br />which time one of the three on -duty ambujanc s will be housed at fire <br />station _1'_Currently, the EMS Department has mutual aid agreements with <br />the cities of Baytown, Deer Park, and Clear Lake, which, in 2010, were <br />utilized by the City approximately 74times and other agencies 104tirnes. <br />The City also staffs a part-time Bike Medic Team during special events and <br />for public safety education,m (see inset) <br />,_LQd_has s2ecially trained tactical <br />medics that a,re assigne to the Police Departmen 's SWAT team. |n2010, <br />the EMS Department responded to 3,120 emergency calls. Outside of <br />emergency response, the EMS Department offers a number ofprograms to <br />increase public awareness and health and safety of the community, including <br />blood pressure tracking, childhood immunizations, child safety seat <br />inspections, DWI awareness programs, and others. <br />As the community grows, the EMS Department sees its biggest challenge <br />being able to attract and retain qualified paramedics.
