<br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING DRAFT SEPTEMBER 20, 2012 <br />While travelling by car is the predominate form of people mobili <br />1 <br />Porte and is typically the topic that receives the most attention, pl <br />future travel needs in the City will involve looking at transpor <br />interconnected system of roadways, paths, trails, and sidewalks, <br />multiple options for getting around including by transit and bik <br />commitment to constructing a City-wide trail system is already <br />starting to be a game-changing influence on the discussion of mobility in La <br />Porte. <br />4.2 Focus Areas, Goals, Actions and Initiatives <br />Throughout the planning process a number of issues were identifi <br />regarding truck traffic, lack of connectivity, trails, sidewalks <br />These discussions formed the basis of the following focus areas, <br />an analysis of existing conditions and review of current program <br />ordinances. Each focus area contains contextual information, key <br />considerations, goals, (and their rationales), and advisable imp <br />actions and initiatives. The areas of focus are as follows: <br /> <br /> Focus Area 1 Maintained, safe and efficient street transportation <br />network; <br /> Focus Area 2 Improved alternative modes of people mobility; and, <br /> Focus Area 3 Expanded opportunities for water, rail, and air <br />movement of goods. <br />Focus Area 1 Maintained, safe and efficient street <br />transportation network <br /> <br />Since La Porte is a composite community that is part of a larger <br />, <br />which provide access throughout the City, and regional thoroughf <br />state and county roadways), which provide access to other parts <br />region. Both are necessary to create an efficient transportation <br />system.
