SubpartBLANDUSEREGULATIONS <br />Chapter106ZONING <br />ARTICLEI.INGENERAL <br />Dwelling, attached means a dwelling which is joined to another dwelling at one or more sides by <br />party wall or walls. <br />Dwelling, detached means a dwelling which is entirely surrounded by open space on the same <br />building lot. <br />Dwelling, single-family means a residential building, other than manufactured housing or recreational <br />vehicles designed for occupancy for one family only. <br />Dwelling, multi-family means a residential building designed for occupancy of more than four <br />families, with the number of families not to exceed the number of dwelling units. <br />Dwelling, two-family. Refer to duplex. <br />Dwelling unit means a single unit providing complete, independent living facilities for one or more <br />person including permanent provisions for living, sleeping, eating, cooking and sanitation. <br />Efficiency apartment means an apartment without a bedroom separate from other living quarters. <br />Enforcing officer means the chief building official of the city or his designated representative. <br />Façade, primary means that portion or portions of a wall of any permanent structure that is visible <br />from any public right-of-way. <br />Façade, secondary means that portion or portions of a wall of any permanent structure that is not <br />considered the primary façade. <br />Façade, tri-partite means a façade that consist of a base, middle, and capitol (or cornice). <br />Family means any number of related persons or, not more than four unrelated persons living as a <br />single housekeeping unit. <br />Fence means a manmade structural barrier erected on or around a piece of property or any portion <br />thereof. <br />Floor area means the sum total area of all floors as calculated from measurements to the outside <br />walls. <br />Foundation system means an assembly of materials constructed below, or partially below-grade, not <br />intended to be removed from its installation site, which is designed to support the structure and <br />engineered to resist the imposition of exterior natural forces, as defined by the Standard Building Code. <br />Such foundation system shall be skirted or enclosed with wood, or masonry to give the appearance of a <br />solid foundation, if one is not provided, compatible with the appearance of adjacent housing. <br />Fowl means any goose, chicken, peacock, guinea, duck, turkey, and/or other member of the bird <br />family. <br />Freestanding sign means an outdoor sign supported by uprights or braces placed in or upon the <br />ground, or mounted on a vehicle, trailer, or mobile structure principally used for the purpose of advertising <br />or display of information. For the purpose of this chapter, a portable sign shall be considered to be a <br />freestanding sign. <br />Garage, private means an accessory building designed or used for the storage of motor vehicles <br />owned and used by the occupants of the building to which it is an accessory. <br />Garage, public means a building or portion thereof, other than a private or storage garage, designed <br />or used for servicing, repairing, equipping, hiring, selling, or storing motor driven vehicles. <br />Glare means emitted light which exceeds 60 footcandles. <br />Grade means a referenced plane representing the average of finished ground level adjoining the <br />building and all exterior walls. <br />LaPorte,Texas,CodeofOrdinancesPage7 <br /> <br />
