Completion under prior regulations. <br />Nothing herein shall require any change in the plans, construction or designated use of a building for <br />which a legal building permit has been issued prior to adoption, provided such construction shall have <br />been started within six months following the date of issuance of such permit and work thereon is diligently <br />prosecuted to completion. <br />Sec. 106-122. Completion under chapter. <br />(a) If the work described in any building permit which complies with this chapter has not begun within six <br />months from the date of issuance thereof, said permit shall expire; it shall be cancelled by the <br />enforcing officer, and written notice thereof shall be given to the persons affected. <br />(b) If the work described in any building permit issued under the provisions of this chapter has not been <br />commenced within six months, or if construction or work is suspended or abandoned for a period of <br />six months at any time after work is commenced, said permits shall expire and be cancelled by the <br />enforcing officer. Written notice thereof shall be given to the persons affected, together with notice <br />that further work as described in the cancelled permit shall not proceed unless and until a new <br />building permit has been obtained. <br />Sec. 106-123. Enforcement officer. <br />(a) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, the designated enforcement officer for the city shall <br />administer and enforce this chapter, the inspection of premises as defined by this chapter and as <br />specified in section 106-142 (Zoning Permits), and the issuing of situations for violations. <br />(b) No zoning permit shall be issued by the enforcement officer unless the provisions of this chapter <br />have been complied with. <br />(c) No person shall erect or construct or proceed with the erection or construction of any building or <br />structure nor add to, enlarge, move, improve, alter, repair, convert, extend or demolish any building <br />or structure or cause the same to be done in any zoned district within the city without first applying <br />for and obtaining a building permit therefor from the chief building official. <br />(d) All applications for such permits shall be in accordance with the requirements of this chapter, the <br />development ordinance of the city, and the building code of the city, except upon written order of the <br />board of adjustment, no such building permit or zoning permit shall be issued for any building where <br />LaPorte,Texas,CodeofOrdinancesPage28 <br /> <br />
