• <br />• <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALLED MEETING <br />OF THE LA PORTE AUDIT COMMITTEE <br />JULY 30, 2002 <br />1. Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Chuck Engelken at 2:00 p.m. <br />Members of Committee Present: Chairman Chuck Engelken, Howard Ebow and James <br />Warren. <br />Members of Committee Absent: None <br />Members of City Council Present: Bruce Meismer, Mayor Norman Malone, Mike Mosteit <br />and Bang Beasley. <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Secretary Martha <br />Gillett, Finance Director Cynthia Alexander and Assistant Finance Director Michael <br />Dolby. <br />Others Present: City Attorney Knox Askins. <br />2. Consider approval of minutes of Regular Meeting of City of La Porte Audit Committee held <br />on July 22, 2002. <br />Motion was made by James Warren to approve the minutes as presented. A second by <br />Chuck Engelken. The motion carried unanimously. <br />3. Interview consultants to conduct an audit of credit card transactions - C. Engelken <br />The Committee interviewed four auditing firms as follows: <br />Tiller and Company, Baytown, Texas <br />Sanderson, Knox & Belt, Sugarland, Texas <br />Patillo, Brown & Hill, Waco, Texas <br />Mosher, Seifert & Co., Pasadena, Texas <br />Attached is a copy of the Scope of Services and interview questions. <br />4. Consider retaining an accounting firm to conduct an audit of credit card transactions - C. <br />Engelken. <br />At the close of the interviews, each committee member rated each consulting firm. Tiller <br />and Company received the highest rating. <br />Motion was made by Howard Ebow to hire Tiller and Company to conduct an audit on <br />credit card use subject to receipt and approval of engagement letter outlining the Scope of <br />Services, completion time and fees. Second by James Warren. The motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />City Attorney Knox Askins requested Tiller and Company to provide the City with an <br />engagement letter to be approved at the August 12~', 2002 City Council Meeting. It was <br />
