O. c Ox 1115 ~ LA Fc??[, TExi.S "771 <br />• ~ July 7, 1975 <br />TO: Mr. Dan Kennedy, Health Inspector <br />Mr. Larry Morton, Director of Public Works <br />Mr. Knox Askins, City Attorney <br />Re: Enforcement of the "Weed Ordinance" <br />Section 13-21, et seq, Code of <br />Ordinances of the City of La Porte <br />Gentlemen: <br />The City Commission, at its meeting of July 7, 1975, has <br />authorized the following policies for the enforcement of the <br />"Weed Ordinance," Section 13-21, et seq, of the Code of <br />Ordinances of the City of La Porte: <br />• (1) The Ordinance shall be enforced as to "weeds" which <br />have grown to more than eighteen inches (18") in <br />height, either upon the complaint of the City, or <br />upon the complaint of an adjoining property owner, <br />against any lot or parcel of real estate which is <br />situated within two hundred feet (200') from the <br />perimeter of improved property, other than property <br />improved for industrial or agricultural use, within <br />the City. <br />City manpower and equipment shall not be used in the <br />enforcement of the Ordinance. Bids shall be taken <br />from private mowing contractors for the performance <br />of this work. <br />(2) In the case of weed cutting work which has previously <br />been done by the City, all unpaid accounts are to be <br />given a thirty (30) day notice letter, advising them <br />that if the account is not paid, a lien will be filed. <br />At the expiration of the 30-day notice, the City <br />Attorney is directed to prepare and file liens against <br />the properties on which the accounts are not paid, <br />such liens to be filed in the Harris County Clerk's <br />Office. In the future, liens are to be filed without <br />further action by the City Commission, after the <br />expiration of a 30-day written notice to the owner. <br />• <br />
