O. c Ox 1115 ~ LA Fc??[, TExi.S "771 • ~ July 7, 1975 TO: Mr. Dan Kennedy, Health Inspector Mr. Larry Morton, Director of Public Works Mr. Knox Askins, City Attorney Re: Enforcement of the "Weed Ordinance" Section 13-21, et seq, Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte Gentlemen: The City Commission, at its meeting of July 7, 1975, has authorized the following policies for the enforcement of the "Weed Ordinance," Section 13-21, et seq, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte: • (1) The Ordinance shall be enforced as to "weeds" which have grown to more than eighteen inches (18") in height, either upon the complaint of the City, or upon the complaint of an adjoining property owner, against any lot or parcel of real estate which is situated within two hundred feet (200') from the perimeter of improved property, other than property improved for industrial or agricultural use, within the City. City manpower and equipment shall not be used in the enforcement of the Ordinance. Bids shall be taken from private mowing contractors for the performance of this work. (2) In the case of weed cutting work which has previously been done by the City, all unpaid accounts are to be given a thirty (30) day notice letter, advising them that if the account is not paid, a lien will be filed. At the expiration of the 30-day notice, the City Attorney is directed to prepare and file liens against the properties on which the accounts are not paid, such liens to be filed in the Harris County Clerk's Office. In the future, liens are to be filed without further action by the City Commission, after the expiration of a 30-day written notice to the owner. •
