• <br />Page 1 of 12 <br />SUBJECT: GENERAL RULES <br />1. All new employees shall furnish proof of date and place of <br />birth, and are required to have a physical examination before <br />beginning work. <br />2. All employees of the City of La Porte are expected to pay their <br />debts to the City. Should an employee fail to do so, they will <br />be given one chance to make arrangements to start paying or face <br />dismissal. <br />3. Any employee who is terminated for dereliction of duty, mis- <br />appropriation of funds, stealing, falsification of records, or <br />for any other justifiable reason shall forfeit all rights to <br />any unused vacation, sick leave, or other benefits generally <br />received from the City. <br />4. No vacation credit or benefits will be earned by temporary or <br />part-time employees. <br />• 5. The City has adopted a retirement program, however there is <br />a ninety (90) day period before it is effective for all new <br />permanent employees. This program applies only to those new <br />employees less than fifty years of age. <br />6. The City subscribes to a uniform service for all of the outside <br />employees. The cost is paid by the City. <br />7. City vehicles may be carried home at night only by those employees <br />who are on call. <br />8. No gasoline or oil shall ever be put in a personal car or truck <br />even for reimbursement for a trip made for the City. When a <br />City vehicle is not available and personal car is used for <br />City business, approval has to be granted by the Director of <br />Finance, in advance. If approval is given, employee will present <br />a bill to the City ofr payment through regular Channels. <br />9. All supervisory, fire, police, and previously advised employees <br />are required to work the number hours necessary to satisfac- <br />torily care for their job. <br />10. All utility maintenance crews work forty (40) hours per week. <br />overtime is paid at time and one half (1-1/2), for all hours <br />over forty (40). <br />• <br />
