• <br /> <br />• <br />~r <br />aS; the citizens of Las Vegas share with citizens the nation <br />over, concern for the welfare of this country's victims <br />of neuromuscular disease; and <br />WHEREAS;, the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, which provides major <br />support for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will <br />originate in Las Vegas for the fifth successive year, <br />thus bringing honor and recognition to our ,community; and <br />WHEREAS; the Muscular Dystrophy Association sponsors worldwide <br />programs of scientific research, and maintains a nation- <br />wide network of over 180 clinics to serve patients <br />suffering from these crippling diseases; and <br />WHEREAS; the City of Las Vegas is proud to host the Jerry Lewis <br />Muscular Dystrophy Labor. Day Telethon, an event which <br />each year unites millions of volunteers from every corner- <br />of America and which, with the dollars it raises, benefits <br />_ the lives of so many more. <br />. ,NOW, THEREFORE, I, WILLIAM H. BRIARE, Mayor of Las Vegas, Nevada do <br />hereby proclaim the period September 4th to September 5th, <br />1977, to be: <br />"JERRY.LEWIS MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY TELETHON WEEKEND" <br />in and for the City of Las Vegas, and I do hereby urge all <br />citizens to give full support as they have done so generously <br />in the past, to the programs of the Muscular Dystrophy <br />Association, and to the untiring efforts of its National <br />Chairman, Jerry Lewis. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this 30th day of June, 1977. <br />• <br />~ ~ <br />WILLIARI H.
