• CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION There is a code of ethics to be followed in any business, but of necessity the City of La Porte code is even more rigid. Remember the following policy not as "dont's", but as a sacred obligation. You have the same responsibility toward your fellow work- ers --by not starting or spreading gossip and idle talk. Routine information to newspapers shall be given only through the Administrator's Office. ECONOMY The City of La Porte is a not -for -profit operation. It is important that each and every employee be alert and careful in the care and use of City equipment and supplies. There are hundreds of ways in which all employees can help the City in saving money, which, in the long run, benefits each employee through better working conditions or increased salaries and fringe benefits. Good equipment, like good personnel, deserves good care. Replacement and repairs are extremely expensive. Please take a personel interest in the proper use and care of all equipment and supplies. Give City equipment the same care you would use if it were your own. If you should notice any equipment not working properly, report this fact to your Supervisor immediately. This will be reported to the Maintenance Department, so that repairs or adjustments may be made as soon as possible. Do not attempt to repair or adjust equipment unless you have been in- structed to do so. We welcome all suggestions from personnel regarding economy in the use of supplies and the care and use of equipment. CITY EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES The equipment and supplies in the City are intended for City use only. They are more costly to manufacture than the articles used in the home. It is, therefore, important that you are most careful in the handling of equipment, and that you use economy in the amount of supplies necessary for your duties. In this way, you can help keep down the cost of City Services. This will result in benefits to both our employees and citizens. SANITATION It is only natural to assume that a City should be a model institution for cleanliness and healthful sanitation. We, there- fore, enlist the support and aid of each employee in making the City of La Porte outstanding for its cleanliness, and hope that each employee will be personally responsible for seeing that • papers, rags, bottles, or any other refuse is not left on the floors or stairways. 0a
