MEMORANDUM
• December 10, 1979
T0: Jim Hudgens
City Administrator
FROM: Public Works Director
SUBJECT: Water Division Backhoe
The Water Divisions backhoe has been in the shop more than it
has been on the job in the past few weeks.
I was advised by Mr. Kendle this morning that we would have to
put anew engine in it now.
This would cost about $4,500.00. I had hoped to get by this
year and buy a new one next year.
Since this machine is a 1973 model, I do not recommend spending
this much money on it. We have other problems with the machine
as well and would probably continue to have problems with it.
The Water Division must have a backhoe at once in order to try
to stay up with the many ,taps that come in each week. They are
• behind now because the machine has been in the shop.
I suggest we declare this an emergency and buy one as soon as
possible.
/ ,:
~~--
Jack Burks
Public Works Director ~/
~~~!
