Hickenbottom, Assistant Fire Marshal SUBJECT: Amending Smoke Detector Ordinance ~~1093. It has become necessary to ask that this Ordinance be amended since its passage September 19, 1977, for the following reasons: I am requesting that Section 1 be amended because this Ordinance was made a part of the 1976 Edition of the Standard Buildi~.g Code with no saving clause, and when the 1979 Edition of the Standard Building Code is adopted, this Ordinance will have to be re-adopted. I am requesting that-Section 1 be amended to include 1976 Edition, or currently enforced building code., heretofore adopted. In Section 1 Paragraph 2, I am requesting this amendment to also include duplex and boarding house, since these were inadvertently left out of the-first Ordinance. Location of smoke detector section has been more clearly defined because of the response'~from installers that the present Ordinance was too vague. Final approval is a new section. I am requesting this section be included for clarification of responsibility. I am requesting that Section 2 be amended to include the words duplex and townhouse complex, which were inadvertently left out of the first Ordinance. I am requesting that Section 3 be amended to include boarding house ar~d duplex, because again, they were left out of the first Ordinance. I am requesting that Section 4 be amended to exclude two-family dwellings. Section 5 stays the same.
